Stress: Are you stretching yourself too thin?

If I had a penny for the amount of times I’ve sworn to “go slow” this year. I’d have enough to quit my job and actually do it.

Those who know me know I’m prone to spreading myself thin. I juggle too many plates at once and end up either going MIA from my friends for months on end, or losing the attention to detail I try hard to maintain. Which is why this year I planned to “go slow” and focus on the small but essential things I need in life. Similar to last lockdown, I wanted to focus, and work on growth — not running as fast as I could ahead of the competition.

Whilst this year has been great, my freelance work is growing in some areas, and I’m finally able to commit to the gym — there’s still a lot of stress in my life.

Whether it’s personal or professional drama, you can manifest what you want the year to be, but unless you’re truly ready to commit to recharging your life it’s likely to never happen.

I feel like I’m on track with what I’m aiming for. But at the same time there’s a lot of adjusting needed. As the clients pour in through Fiverr and I start to move them away from the platform, as I build up my freelance portfolio, and spend an hour and a half in the gym — I want to make sure I’m not spreading myself too thin. Making sure there’s enough time in the day to sleep and socialise are just as important as digital courses, journaling, and building websites, if not more.

If I’m honest, there was very little point to this entry. Random writing is a great tool for procrastination, but also it’s like a bit of mental preparation. Not quite ready to buckle down? Shit-write until you have the mental motivation to actually get the work done.
